Last day teaching at Arabesque 4/11/13

After much consideration, this is my final session teaching at Arabesque in Chicago. It has been a great run, but it is now time to pass on the torch. If you have a punch card and wanna take classes with me, I have a Thursday drop in class at 7:20. My last class will be 4/11/13. The Black Silk Road and Down Hips down will continue to rehearse and produce great shit. I will continue to teach workshops, and run the Glint. Going to spend more time on my burlesque, flamenco and fire spinning. Here's to change, making time for your art, keeping on keeping on.

The next Glint is scheduled for 6.1.13

Same time, same place!! 6/1/13, doors at 9, show at 10 at the Orphanage in Chicago. It's about a mile from Sox field in Bridgeport. This time though, we're having a much shorter intermission, 15 minutes!!! New flyer is also up too. Hugs!

Thank you to all that performed and came to see the Glint this Saturday. The orphanage will now be our new home. I'll get the next event scheduled ASAP. I'll let you all know as soon as I know.

Bump and Grind: a burlesque workshop 2/10/13

Danced tonight with the Fishtank Ensemble

Had a spectacular time dancing with the band the Fishtank Ensemble tonight. They performed at the Mayne Stage as a part of the Chicago World Music Festival. I will keep this experience in a special place in my heart.

Zills Class on 8/30/12 Cancelled

Cancelled to lack of hustle. I think I'm going to change the schedule around to linger longer on intro and basics. Stay tuned for more changes.

Workshops every weekend till November

That is right, every saturday and sunday at the Gypsy Gypsy Dancing Lady Studios, I'll be having a 3 hour drilling (saturday) and zilling (sunday) workshop. I'm BACK!!

Thank you so much everyone for all the love and support since the fire. As many of you know, I had a house fire and lost almost everything along my beloved cat Beano. Stinky, Meggand and I survived, with little more than we could fit in our car. I let this and my knockknockhotspot.com site slide and I'm now picking up the pieces. I'm updating my class and workshop pages, and soon we will reschedule the next Glint. Again thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Friday 4/27/12 is my return to the Broadzilla show at Exit in Chicago.

Saturday is the one the only, Resonate. My burlesque troupe, the Knock Knock Hot Spot will be performing at 10, 11 and at midnight. See your asses there.

Leaving for Austin in less than 7 hours

As most of you know, I have a burlesque alter ego, Spiffy Kins. Well, as Spiffy, I got into the Texas Burlesque Fest in Austin. I perform 4/12/12, and if I am bad ass enough to get people's choice, I get the chance to perform at the Saturday show too. Here's to national recognition.

The Glint SOLD OUT!!!

Thank you everybody for making the Glint a massive success. Doors were at 9, show was at 10 and we sold out at 9:30. It broke my heart to turn people away, but it means we've gotten too big for our britches. Therefore... were getting bigger britches. Keep your eyes posted for the May show, new venue, same awesomeness!!!

The last night of The Wall tonight at Theater 773

Tonight is the final show of our 5 show run burlesque and variety tribute to Pink Floyd's The Wall. Show at 7 at Theater 773 on Belmont near Sheridan. $20 at the door.

the glint is back!!! 1/28/12

That's right folks, the glint is back. My bellydance event of grown up proportions is on 1.28.12, doors at 9 and show at 10. It will be at the 1901 Gallery at 1901 W Belmont. $10 to get in, and bring your booze with ya cause it's BYOB.

Two events in the next 24 hours!!

You heard it right folks. Tonight (12.3) is the Nikki Patin going away event at Lizards Lounge. Starts at 8. And tomorrow is my high heels workshop. $30 by before hand and $40 at the door. Two hours of high heel edumakation!!

So much fun this week!!

Tribal Bellydance Posture, Strength and Drills Workshop Sunday 11/22/09

I have a 4 hour tribal drills workshop on Sunday at Arabesque!!! 12-2 pm and 3-5 pm. It's a two part workshop that will focus on drilling for better bellydance posture, core and leg strength, and smoother transitions between movements. $55 for both two hour slots and $30 each prepurchase. $35 each at the door. Knock Knock Hot Spot this Saturday 11/21/09

The Knock Knock Hot Spot, my burlesque and variety show, is having it's world premier show this Sat 11/21/09. Two shows at the EP Theater, 1820 S Halsted in Chicago, one at 8:30 and at 10:30. It's BYOB and $15 at the door. Enjoy the bellydance stylings of Jolie and Dolores Kendall. I'll be performing my queer burlesque heart out as Spiffy Kins. See ya there!

Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!Yay!!!

Well this holiday weekend has alot happening. First on the 30th, I'll be performing at the Freak Gala at the Viaduct Theater with the band Donoma. Then Halloween itself, me and the gals of the Knock Knock Hot Spot, will be performing at the Freakeasy. Finally on the 1st, I will be at the Smoke Halfa performing with my student troupe, Down Hips Down. Whew!

The Glint just announced!!

The next Glint, a tribal bellydance event, has been scheduled for 11/14/09. There are 10 sets per show, performance by invitation only. However, if you want to be a part of the next Glint, to be scheduled sometime in January 2010, please contact me and show me what you got. I want this to be more than just hafla, I want the people who have worked the hardest and are pushing the most boundaries to shine in this show. Not being a snob, but I just hate that the only way we can get good local tribal performers together is to wait for the next big thing to be brought into town. Yet as well have something regularly occuring. This is Chicago people. Let's show them what we got.

New classes starting today!

I just started my first drills class at Arabesque. It will be Mondays at 6:00 pm. Will be suitable for all styles of bellydance, but there will be a tribal fusion lean. My 101 class will now be at 7:15 on Mondays.
