CoreDemo at the Glint!
The fantastic Carey Meyer of Dancer’s Eye Photography took this smashing shot of me…
The official flyer is up!! The next The Glint – A Chicago Tribal and Tribal Fusion Bellydance Event is 8/15/15 at The Orphanage. Doors at 9, show at 10pm. $10 donation, but if you are feeling generous, give more because this is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society in collaboration with the Mighty Ink Comics/GCPD Podcast‘s fundraising group, Core Demo. There will also be a host of raffles during intermission with fun geek/nerd prizes. Our theme this show is Gods and Myth, and man are the performers really stepping it up for this one. This will not be one to miss so mark your calendars and start shopping for floor pillows. The Glint, has Ravinia style seating arrangement with the floor pillow and cooler community near the front of the stage and seating in the periphery. As always, the Glint is a 21+, BYOB event. See you there.
Such a busy weekend about to start. My troupe Down Hips Down is performing Thursday night at Tribal Rev. I’m teaching my Ambidextrous Zilling Method Saturday morning and I’m going to be sharing the stage with some of the most talented people in bellydance Saturday night. OMG the feels!!!!! Hope to see you there.
Intro to Tribal Fusion Bellydance for the Performance Minded is go every Tuesday 4/7/15 to 7/2/15, 9-10 pm at Dance Center Chicago. This class built for the people who have been hitting me up who are performers themselves who keep telling me, “Mae, I’d like to take some bellydance with you to spruce up my stuff.” Its still a bellydance 101 course, but targeted toward people who can already move and are not afraid of the stage. We’re basically going to assume you already know to look up and not at the floor when you dance, that you can step with your left foot on command, and that you have some rhythm. Basically this is my response to folks who are fire spinners, burlesquers, ariealists, and/or people who haven’t taken a dance class in a long time, but want to incorporate bellydance into their repertoire and take up regular dance classes again. We’ll. Spend time with bellydance isolations, undulations and shimmies, but we’ll also touch on traveling, arm placement, elongating your lines and stage presence.
I’m teaching my Ambidextrous Zills workshop at Tribal Revolution this year. 6/27/15 from 10-noon. If you’ve ever really wondered what I mean by Ambidextrous Zilling, I made a video!!!
New Workshop at Elgin’s Easter Groove Studios on 11/16/14!!!!
Just two more classes left this month, and that will be it for my “open to the public” classes. Come October, the troupes Down Hips Down and The Black Silk Road will get their rehersal times back and I won’t have drop in classes till probably 2015. $15 a class!!!
