I’m teaching my Ambidextrous Zills workshop at Tribal Revolution this year. 6/27/15 from 10-noon. If you’ve ever really wondered what I mean by Ambidextrous Zilling, I made a video!!!
New Workshop at Elgin’s Easter Groove Studios on 11/16/14!!!!
Just two more classes left this month, and that will be it for my “open to the public” classes. Come October, the troupes Down Hips Down and The Black Silk Road will get their rehersal times back and I won’t have drop in classes till probably 2015. $15 a class!!!
Temporary change in schedule. Tuesdays at Dance Center Chicago 3868 N Lincoln (above the Chase) the class line up will be:
Intro to Tribal Fusion – 7-8 pm – Fundamentals course for new tribal fusion bellydancers and for experienced dancers from other dance forms to get the fundamental tribal fusion theory before moving up into the intermediate tribal fusion intensives.
Intermediate Tribal Fusion Intensives: AKA Super Hard Core No Fun Weekly Intensives with Mae the Bellydancer – 8-10 pm – Two hour weekly intensives for performer level or intermediate tribal fusion bellydancers that focuses on posture, strength building, and the most current and exciting tribal fusion moves and combos. Guaranteed to jump start your creative process, infuse your current regimen with new moves, and help you see performance from a different angle.
Drop ins are welcome for both classes.
Dates effective: 7/1/14 to 9/9/14
Thanks to Down Hips Down for rocking the Tribal Revolution Thursday night show. You girls make me sooooo proud. I’m still getting all kinds of compliments about our act!!!! DHD 4-evah!!!
And I loved drumming with Katara. Rune and Sal are so fucking talented, I could barely hold it together, but I’m so glad I did it. The Boheme Tribal duet was just lovely to accompany.
I learned alot from Zoe, Rachel, and my pre Tribal Rev class with Samantha Emanuel. So much info to digest, but it was very invigorating to know my dance practice is on track.
What a weekend.
This Tuesday till 9/9/14, I’ll be merging Down Hips Down and Black Silk Road troupe rehersal, and creating a summer drills and combos intensive. Everyone is welcome, but my target audience are performers and intermediate dancers. This will not be for the faint of heart!!!
This is a busy one. First my burlesque troupe the Knock Knock Hot Spot is returning to the stage at No-Tell Cabaret’s Knock Knock Hot Spot Takeover on 6/18. 5 great performers doing what they do best, entertaining and giving you the warm and fuzzies. No cover, doors at 9 and show at 10:30. Then I’ll be doing fire bellydance at the Ed Paschke Art Center 6/21, and Liz Phair will be there. I’m going to die. Finally on Sunday 6/22, I’ll be teaching my Tahitian Ami workshop in Elgin, IL at Eastern Groove Studios.
Introduction to Tribal Fusion Bellydance classes at Dance Center Chicago (3868 N Lincoln, above the Chase) are still going strong, Tuesdays from 7-8pm (a little more like 7:10 to 8:10). Its $15 to drop in and $50 for a 5 class card that is good for 60 days. Its a great class for beginners and intermediates who like alot of geometric break down of moves and combinations. I take cash, credit and checks!!! See you there!
This summer is going to be awesome! I just got back from performing in South Haven, MI with Boheme Tribal with live music from Wisaal. Down Hips Down, my tribal fusion troupe will be performing at Tribal Revolution at the Thursday show 6/26/14 and at Queerpocalypse 8/23/14. My duet project, Eris, is performing at Fierce! the country’s first queer burlesque festival 7/24/14 in Madison, WI. I’ll also be drumming with Katara as live music accompaniment for Boheme Tribal at Tribal Rev 6/27/14. And I’ll be doing fire bellydance at the Ed Paschke Art Gallery opening 6/21/14.
